Hollywood renews love story with Almodovar

Hello! Miss Lopez again. It seems like Hollywood renews her love story with the Spanish film director Almodovar from El Deseo production in Madrid. He is been invited to Afi Fest, an important preview event before the Oscars, Cool!

Well this is the new film of Almodovar, “La Piel que habito”. Some part of the shooting have been in my Dear Galicia actually in Santiago de Compostela where I´ve studied law at University once. A beautiful historical city not only for the pilgrilms.

I am really looking forward to seeing this new flm of Almodovar. This is a thriller: an obsesses man in a woman, (Antonio Banderas) very “psyco” I guess (very Almodovar) and a bit of grotesque humor according to some critics but you know it´s Almodovar! Worth looking for!

Hero for a hero: fiction and reality

Hi everyone, MisterLopez here.

There are two kinds of heroes in this world. There are the fictional ones, from books and movies and there are the real ones, who from a fictional point of view would at a first glance not really look like heroes. But from a realistic point of view, heroism is when someone does something out of the ordinary, or endures something extreme. In the case of the rescued Chilean miners, they had to endure being trapped underground for many weeks before getting rescued.

And while Antonio Banderas looks awesome when he kicks ass in Desperado, one may wonder how an actor like him would fare in a real life crisis. He is still after all only human.

Do something extraordinary and be a hero!

See Woody Allen’s Tall Dark Stranger: Spanish Antonio Banderas

Hello out there! Do you think the grass is greaner at the other side? Check then Woody Allen’s latest film with Antonio Banderas among others!

But first, have you already paid atention to Jon Kortajarena, the hottest Spanish model ever (I should say from the Basque country in the north of Spain so nobody gets angry or something…) at the new advertising campaign for H&M today? At least in Stockholm you can see H&M ads almost everywhere. He is the guy and I think he is a really handsome man with style. And you, do you like Jon’s looks? Talking about Spanish men, here comes the next one. As I’ve said to you in one of my past posts, I went to the cinema at Stureplan yesterday with some friends to see Woody Allen’s latest film, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Strange and the one in question is of course Spanish Antonio Banderas. The plot: Alfie (Anthony Hopkins) and Helena (Gemma Jones) divorce and he marries a prostitute, Charmaine (Lucy Punch), while she is takes refuge in a fake fortune teller (Cristal – Pauline Collins). Their daughter Sally (Naomi Watts) has a troubled married with author Roy (Josh Brolin), who once had a promising career but is now foundering. Sally them considers having an affair with her boss at an art gallery — Greg (Antonio Banderas). Roy falls for Dia (Freida Pinto), a musicologist he sees through a window near his and Sally’s flat. He convinces Dia to break off her engagement. Very Woody Allen! In the end, all are dissatisfied with their choices, except for Helena, who has found companionship in a widower.  The film is the fourth Allen has shot in London, England. I really enjoyed the film that after a while it really makes you think. I think Woody Allen is a master in philosophical issues (I love it!) like human dissatisfation and how we most human beings manage “never” be completely satisfied with what we have, always looking for something else that “never” comes thinking the paradise is out there but not within us. Is that so that happiness is at the other side and we’ll never be able to reach it? I think Woody Allen is very good at taking this issue. I believe we have more power than we think and we make our own reality.  Just blaming our fates on others, or  complaining instead of  doing something constructing, is not the positive way, but I do know it’s not easy! Be thankful for the gifts in your life instead and Feelgood!

The grass is as green as you want it to be! Enjoy Woody Allen´s latest film!

You can make it if you really want. Choose to be  happy and Feelgood

Cold weather, warm situation and Bruce Campbell

Hi everyone, MissLopez´s assistant, MisterLopez here!

Well then, it seems that the site went down once more yesterday night (European Time) due to excessive strain on the server caused by a sudden hot surge of visitors. After talking with tech-support and doing some basic Sherlock Holmes-like investigation, it seem that the reason for the surge, and the culprit was Vanita Bergman and a blog about her that was posted here in May.

Apparently, Vanita participated in the Swedish show ‘Lyxfällan’ yesterday, and I can only assume that a large number of her fans felt that it was a good time to Google up on her, and quite a few of these people managed to find their way here, which in itself is pretty neat! The surge was not as fun for the host server though, and as a result the site went down. My apologies for this. Measurements against these kind of incidents have been put in place and will hopefully for the time being prevent scenarios like these from happening in the future.

That incident aside, it seems that winter really is upon us right now. It certainly is cold and there’s supposedly a lot of snowing going on in Stockholm. I am not really a fan of cold weather, but I do love snow! The pure, white kind that doesn’t go all slushy after half an hour is simply the best, specially in the evening when what little light that is available is reflected back from the snow, lighting up the landscape.

I can add that unlike for my boss MissLopez, there won’t be any movies with Antonio Banderas for me tonight (maybe I should re-watch ‘Desperado’ some day though), but instead it’ll probably be a movie starring Bruce Campbell: ‘Army of Darkness’!

Enjoy this Friday evening with a good movie folks!
