Add Brazil to you Swedish Midsummer Party: Serve Delicious Caipirinhas

Hello my Dear Latin World Lovers!

Today Miss Suecarioca is hanging out on the Swedish country side to celebrate Swedish Midsummer. You know; Nordic Light, Dancing like frogs, eating Sill, drinking vodka while singing Helan går, and many other very Swedish amusements…

But to add a litte Brazil and Festa Junina to my Midsummer I’m making Caipirinhas!

6 cl Cachaça

Slice half a lime and squeeze with 1-2 cl Syrup.

Pour the spirit and serve with crushed ice.

SO SIMPLE, SO DELICIOUS!

(And if you don’t have/don’t like cachaça, just put vodka instead and enjoy a Caipironoshka!)

Boa festa para todos,

Miss Suecarioca

Swedish Midsommar vs Brazilian Festa Junina

So, this weekend we’re off to celibrate Swedish Midsummer. The longest day of the year with Nordic light that will be by your side for almost 24 hours!

During the day we rise the Midsommarstången (as you can see in the picture), eat Sill (pickled fish) drink Brännvin (spiced vodka) dance Små grodorna (pretending to be little frogs) and just go kind of crazy in general…

Before going to sleep this night, unmarried Swedish women often pick seven different flowers to put below their pillow. The person they dream of this night is the one they will eventually marry…

And Brazil? Well, Brazil is never late when it comes to celabrations! In fact, Festa Junina, the June Party, takes place on the same date as the Swedish Midsummer. Brazil celebrates São João, Saint John, and can you guess what kind of saint he is? For Marrige! This time is a very popular time to get married in Brazil.

So, while Swedish women dream about who they will marry, Brazilians are actually getting married!

Don’t you just love to discover how everything seems to be connected to everything?

Happy Midsummer and Boa Festa Junina!

With love, Miss Suecarioca

Feelgood Womanhood – Feminism á la Suecarioca

Feelgood Womanhood is our slogan here at misslopez, it’s our way to encourage women to feel good about themselves. Which not always the easiest thing to do in this crazy world.

Miss Suecarioca’s tips to feel good  as a woman:

* Don’t Believe the Hype!

Do your own thing, trust your instincts and your intuition.

Think outside the box, people that do so are the ones that succeed. The Hype will trick you into believing you need to be like everybody else to feel good. Not true!

* You Can Do It!

You really can. Whatever it is that you want – It really can and will happen if you believe in it! Impossible is nothing.

* Always support other women.

Always. Be generous, never  jealous. Stick together, help each other. It pays back, I promise!

* You Deserve to be Happy,

whatever happiness means to you. Never apologize for wanting it. Never let anyone else decide what happiness should mean to you.

* Get Rid of Destructive Relations.

People that bring you down : Hasta la Vista!

Or “Beijo, me liga”, as we say to in Rio de Janeiro. “Kiss, call me”, but  it really means: “Never ever call me again!

Lots of love to all lovely women out there!
